The Last Night (this is it!)

OK, feverishly rushing around, violating every piece of advice RVL has about making sure to relax and cleanse your mind of everything that isn't about following Jesus - the busyness of the world, yada yada yada - still working. Packed (almost) and heartbroken that one of us, Sherry Outlaw, looks very iffy, having broken a heel in a fall. Oh, she must be so strong in the Lord to have such a heartache to carry! Flight at 6:30 to O'Hare, so a very early morning. Good night, Spring Branch, and tomorrow, on to Istanbul and the Galil!

Peace, KTR

In the Dust of the Rabbi, again

OK, it's less than two weeks away. On October 1, a group leaves for 17 days in Israel and Turkey, earnestly desiring to learn what it means to be a follower of the Way that Jesus taught. Led by Ray Vanderlaan, composed of elements from Riverside and Alamo Heights United Methodist Church (who are honored to be led, in turn, by Pastors Scott Heare and David McNitzky), this group will spend the days hiking, praying, learning, praising, singing (and, at the end, rubbing sore muscles) in search of what Jesus meant when He said "Follow me!"

Please pray for us - we have been training for several weeks, with weekend hikes to Enchanted Rock, Eisenhower Park, Friedrich Park, the John Knox Ranch, and mid-week workout sessions. We have been blessed by Laura Valenzo, whose vocation as a personal trainer has done wonders to get us ready.

Follow us here - although we expect to have some internet access, it is by no means the most reliable thing, but we will make sure to check in from time to time.
Peace, KTR
