Greetings and salutations from your fellow Asian in Africa,
1st week going strong. We have been embarking on many journeys these past 3 days. From feeding baboons to dancing our chacos off with the local women's ministry's. God has truly blessed this beautiful country with the most kind hearted people. Today we got a good look on life of a normal Ugandan widowed mother and her journey.
Her name was Florence. She had lost her husband and was raising her children on her own. She decided to start a career in brick making. She has a block of wood connected into two shelve looking things. She pours water in a pit of dirt and fills the two small shelves of wood. Than she molds it and puts it up to dry. Her children also help her and have made this a business. Than they must stack the bricks into a little building of about 15ft high and burn them to harden them even more.
Mind you, these bricks must weighs as much as a 4 yr old and this 52 yr old women makes these bricks with her bare hands every day. I say "HALLELUJAH & AMEN" to the lord for blessing her with a workers heart. Giving her the strength of a warrior to live faithfully and successfully.
That's what life is like here. Work hard and keep believing for the miracles to happen. Keep thanking the lord for the blessings you are given.
It has been an honor to work alongside the people as well as leaning from them, and most importantly, making relationships with everyone here. Getting to know the high-schoolers and having best friends across the country is pretty awesome.
Thank you to everyone for your prayers and keep 'em coming. The trip of a lifetime keeps one getting better through God's unending grace. Thank you all and I hope everyone has a blessed day. Ps: carol and John i love you and my cat.
